Matthew Howard is a lawyer at Kidston Helm Ross, practicing primarily in civil litigation and family law. Drawing on more than 16 years of experience, Matthew assists clients with a broad range of disputes, from complex civil matters to sensitive family law issues. Known for his practical approach and straightforward advice, he works closely with clients to develop effective strategies and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the courtroom.

Matthew was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2010 and initially established his practice in Vancouver before returning to the Interior, where he was raised. His legal experience spans personal injury, ICBC claims, car accidents, and estate litigation.

For the past ten years, Matthew has served as general counsel for The People of Pukaist Nation, focusing on title and rights matters, as well as specific claims. He has extensive experience in Indigenous law, and has appeared before the Specific Claims Tribunal. His work in Indigenous law and litigation has deepened his understanding of complex land and governance issues.

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2009. While practicing in Vancouver, he was actively involved with the Access Pro Bono Society, offering legal assistance to those in need. Now based in the North Okanagan, he looks forward to continuing his community involvement.

Outside of his legal work, Matthew enjoys playing Fastpitch, hockey, and exploring the outdoors. Whether he’s on the field, the ice, or hiking with his partner Jennifer and their dog Ghost, he embraces an active and adventurous lifestyle.
