Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers LLP was proud to take part in recognizing two exceptional community leaders this year.

Gerald and Annie Gustafson are the recipients of the 2025 JCI Vernon Good Citizen(s) of the Year award. A group of JCI members and senators, along with lawyers from award sponsor Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers LLP, surprised the Gustafsons at the Elks Hall in Vernon to present the honour.

Surrounded by supporters and well-wishers, Gerald and Annie were recognized for their longstanding volunteer service and commitment to the Greater Vernon community.

The Gustafsons have spent years giving their time to local organizations, including the Vernon Yacht Club and the Vernon Elks. They have also played key roles with the Okanagan Quality of Life Society, where they helped lead the “Heaven Can Wait” program. The program provides boat tours on Okanagan Lake for seniors and individuals with disabilities, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and recreation.

Amanda Wilms, who nominated the couple, spoke to their dedication and teamwork in supporting these organizations. Their efforts have touched many lives across the community.

As the award sponsor, Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers LLP will make a $500 donation to a charity chosen by the Gustafsons.

JCI Vernon is a chapter of Junior Chamber International, a group of young leaders and professionals aged 19 to 40 who are committed to creating positive change in their community. The organization provides leadership opportunities, training, and a network for active citizens dedicated to service.

Kidston Helm Ross is proud to support initiatives that celebrate volunteerism and recognize those who strengthen the fabric of our community.
